“The Town of Georgina recognizes and acknowledges that we are on lands originally used and occupied by the First Peoples of the Williams Treaties First Nations and other Indigenous Peoples, and on behalf of Mayor and Council, we would like to thank them for sharing this land.  We would also like to acknowledge the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as our close neighbour and friend, one with which we strive to build a cooperative and respectful relationship.


We also recognize the unique relationship the Chippewas have with the lands and waters of this territory.  They are the water protectors and environmental stewards of these lands and we join them in these responsibilities.”

Sandie Orlando requested the use of the De La Salle Metro Road parking lot on Sunday, September 8th and the use of both the Metro Road parking lot and Chapel parking lot from Friday, September 6th to Sunday, September 8th during the Fall Georgina Marathon participants and crew.

    That Council receive the delegation by Sandie Orlando of Endurance Event Productions Ltd. and endorse the exclusive use of the De La Salle Park chapel parking lot from September 6th to 8th and the De La Salle Park Metro Road parking lot on Sunday, September 8th for Georgina Marathon participants, crew and staff and that the Community Services staff work with the event organizer accordingly.

    That the following recommendations be adopted;



Report No. OI-2024-0013

  • RESOLUTION NO. C-2024-0197
    1. That Council receive Report No. OI-2024-0013 prepared by the Capital Delivery Division, Operations & Infrastructure Department, dated June 12, 2024 regarding the award of contract OID2024-041 – Pollock Road shoulder stabilization;

       

    2. That Council approve additional funding for this project in the amount of $323,293.40 (incl. 1.76% HST) to support award of construction contract OID2024-041, to be funded through the Canada Community-Build Fund (CCBF).

       

    3. That Council approve award of contract “OID2024-041 – Pollock Road Shoulder Stabilization” for construction services to Envision Excavating Ltd., in the amount of $901,465.00 (excl. tax); and,

       

    4. That Council authorize the Manager of Procurement Services to execute the agreement between the Town of Georgina and Envision Excavating Ltd. and execute all other necessary documents.


Report No. LS-2024-0014

  • RESOLUTION NO. C-2024-0198
    1. That Council receive Report No. LS-2024-0014 prepared by the Municipal Law Enforcement Division, Legislative Services dated June 12th, 2024 respecting a request for a Noise By-Law Exemption to allow for the playing of amplified music at special events held within the historic downtowns and in Town parks during the 2024 Summer season.

       

    2. That Council approve an exemption from the Town’s Noise By-law to allow for the hosting of Town-supported events that include amplified music within the historic downtowns and Town parks for the balance of 2024.

       

    3. That Council direct the Manager of Municipal Law Enforcement to review each event to be held in the historic downtowns and Town parks which are intended to include amplified music, to ensure that potential causes of noise complaints are mitigated.


Report No. CSD-2024-0009

  • RESOLUTION NO. C-2024-0199
    1. That Council receive Report No. CSD2024-0009 prepared by the Community Services Department dated June 12, 2024, respecting York Simcoe Amateur Astronomers Club Agreement. 

       

    2. That Council authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to enter into an agreement between the York Simcoe Amateur Astronomers Club and the Town of Georgina for a five-year term, expiring on June 30, 2029.  

       

    3. That a By-law be passed to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to enter into an agreement with the York Simcoe Amateur Astronomers Club. 

       



Report No. CSD-2024-0010

  • RESOLUTION NO. C-2024-0200
    1. That Council receive Report No. CSD2024-0010 prepared by the Community Services Department dated June 12, 2024, respecting Keswick Model Aircraft Club – Agreement Renewal. 

       

    2. That Council authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to renew the license agreement between the Keswick Model Aircraft Club and the Town of Georgina for a five-year term, expiring on June 30, 2029.  

       

    3. That a By-law be passed to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to enter into a license agreement between Keswick Model Aircraft Club and the Town of Georgina.

    1. That Council receive Report No. OID-2024-0010 prepared by the Capital Delivery Division, Operations & Infrastructure Department dated June 12, 2024 presenting an analysis of options for commemoration of the Old Shiloh Bridge.
    2. That Council direct staff to include Option 1 during the pre-design and detailed design stages for commemoration of the Old Shiloh Road Bridge and that staff return to Council prior to the award with detailed cost options with and without the inclusion of arch facades.
    3. That Council direct staff to include the associated budget request for the option selected in the 2025 draft budget, to be implemented alongside the next phase of design and construction of the new bridge.

  • RESOLUTION NO. C-2024-0204

    That Council receive correspondence from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing advising that Bill 162, Get It Done Act, 2024, received Royal Assent on May 16, making modifications to the legislatively approved official plans of some of the province's fastest growing municipalities to address local needs, while continuing to support the government's goal of getting at least 1.5 million new homes built by 2031.
